Teeth Whitening Denver and Highlands Ranch

Whitening or bleaching teeth in our Denver and Highlands Ranch Cosmetic dental office

There are many methods our Denver area cosmetic dentists use to whiten your teeth.  Typically this involves high concentrations of either Hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Our Highlands Ranch dentists whitening regimen includes the Luma light which is an intense light that’s focused on your teeth to activate the bleaching process. Dr. H. Candace DeLapp and Dr. Sarah Parsons provide general and cosmetic dental services to patients in the Denver, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Parker and Centennial areas of Colorado.  Their office is located at the corner of Quebec and Lincoln in Highlands Ranch

How long does Power Bleaching take?

The teeth whitening process takes between one and two hours, but teeth “may”whiten anywhere from two to eight shades. In-office methods are considered to be some of the  fastest, most effective and safest methods available.

Cost of Power teeth whitening Highlands Ranch dentistry

Cost of Power whitening with the Luma Lite power teeth whitening system cost around $ 550 (circa 2011). The good news is this  method can last from a year to several years depending on the eating and drinking habits of our patients As a general rule of thumb, because people’s teeth whiten differently, our Denver dentist recommends a follow-up regimen of take-home bleaching trays that are included in the cost of power whitening.

Custom Fabricated Take-Home Whitening/Bleaching Trays

Custom fabricated take-home bleaching trays can either be used in conjunction with or as an alternative to Luma power whitening. Our Highlands Ranch dentists take impressions of your mouth and fabricate custom-fitted whitening trays to take home. At home, you dispense teeth-whitening gel into the trays and wear them for a few hours each day or night for a period of time.

Over-the Counter teeth Bleaching Whiteners

Over-the-counter teeth whitening products have become very popular in recent years and can be found just about anywhere. These whitening strip”can” (in many patients) produced whiter teeth. The downside is they don’t produce the dramatic results you see with in-office and whitening trays due to lower concentrations of the hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.

Whitening Strips description

These thin, flexible strips, coated with a whitening gel, are placed over your teeth. How long the whitening lasts, depends on your teeth and how often you drink beverages like coffee or wine or if you smoke. One of  the more effective whitening strips include Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips,

Over-the-Counter Teeth Whitening Trays

With this method, a whitening solutions is applied to the teeth via one-size-fits-all.  The accuracy of the fit is not as good as custom fabricated whitening trays. Gum irritation from average fitting trays is one of the downsides for this technique.

Whitening Toothpastes

As a rule of thumb our Denver dentists have not found whitening tooth pastes to be effective.  What we have seen is an increase in tooth sensitivity caused by the whitening gel found in these products
