Real Family Dentists for Families

Denver Family Dental Group for your Family!

Denver Family Dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp welcomed their daughter Dr. Sarah Parsons to their south Denver Dental practice in June of 2010. What the doctors  enjoy is having their family work with your family. Family or General dentistry entails is a broad range of dental services for everyone in your family. It ranges from preventive dentistry for your children…. to dental crowns for you… to partial dentures or dental implants for your parents.

At what age should I make a dental appointment for my child?

Good question! Our recommendations is to bring your child to your cleaning or preventive care appointments.  First we enjoy seeing the new ones and second we can give you practical suggestions on oral health care as they get older.  Children get their first tooth ‘around” 6 months old and brushing and reducing the number of sugar exposures during the day.  This would include not putting you baby down for a nap or sleep at night with a bottle that contains juice or some other sugar source. Doing so can cause rampant decay termed baby bottle decay.  Literally this can cause the teeth to “rot off” at the gum level… a horrible thing!

Do Senior citizens have a problem with cavities?

Good question and again… yes!  As we get older we produce less saliva and it is thicker and bacteria sticks to the teeth easier and causes decay.  This decay can occur at a VERY RAPID RATE! In addition most medicines “seem” to have a side effect of dry”mouth” which even worsens the situation.  Hard work and diligence is needed to maintain oral health of your parents.
