Loose Dental Crown Denver

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

What to do when a dental crown falls off

The answer to this question depends on what ultimately the problem is. Denver dentists Dr. Sarah Parsons and Dr.’s James and H. Candace DeLapp have one strong recommendation… get in ASAP. If it is something as simple as the crown cement getting loose then cementing again with dental cement is the first priority. Sometime dental cavitiescan sneak underneath the crown and weaken the tooth and the crown falls off. This involves re-making the crown and in severe instances may result in loosing the tooth.

Call our Denver dentists Immediately

Your best bet is to call and see a our Denver area dental office immediately. If you leave the dental crown off the tooth because it does not hurt your teeth ”will” move!  The question is how much and how fast.  If the tooth moves  we “may not” be able to place the same crown on the tooth. Spaces can become narrower or the upper toothcan erupt into the empty space and there in not enough room for the crown to fit in to. In “many” instances we need to fabricate the dental crown.

Temporary Placing the crown back on the tooth.

There are many different temporary dental cements that you can use. Some you can purchase at the Drug store. You can even use tooth paste as a temporary adhesive.  Our recommendation is to take the crown out at night so you do not swallow (or inhale) the dental crown.

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Principle of Divine Proportion

Leonardo da Vinci

Denver Cosmetic Dentists Dr. James DeLapp, Dr. H. Candace DeLapp and Dr. Sarah Parsons  use several of  Leonardo da Vinci’s Principle’s of Divine Proportionin designing your new smile. Beautiful and enduring smiles use da Vinci’s Principles of proportion to harmonize with a person’s unique facial features. This philosophy has been replicated in our web site design emphasising this philosophy

Denver Cosmetic Dentists offerings

What our cosmetic dentists have found that while stained teeth can age our smile… teeth over bleached or veneers too white smile can look out of place as we age. As we age our teeth tend to get shorter with wear from normal or parafunctional habits of clenching and grinding.. Restoring your original tooth length may be one of the many effective solutions. Laugh lines and wrinkles can sometimes be mitigated  by using dental techniques to fill out these facial areas.

Turning  artistic inspiration into reality

Teeth whitening is one of the simplest and most popular procedures for revitalizing your smile. Many studies show that most of us perceive a brighter smile to be more youthful and attractive. If this ends up not being effective… dental veneers can be applied to widen or lengthen your teeth.  What you need to decide is if cosmetic dental procedures are well worth the investment to restore the proportions your face was meant to have.

Costs of Dental Veneers in Denver

Costs of dental veneers depend on the complexity of your special situation.  Some cosmetic make-overs require more that just dental veneers and costs can vary substantially.  If you would like to have a no-charge initial cosmetic dental consultationto get an “idea” of how simple or complex your smile make-over might be … please call our office and schedule.  Just let our team members you received this offer off the Internet.

Denver Delta Dental Premiere Provider

Our Denver dentist are a Delta Dental Premiere Provider. If you have Delta Dental Premiere Provider Plan you are able to mamimize your dental benefits in our Denver area Dental office. Each dental insurance company has a variety of dental plans available to choose from.  Some plans are more comprehensive and other plans provide very basic services.
<

Less Dental Insurance Plans Pay Less and Cover Less

As a general rule of thumb… the less expensive your plan is to your employer the less types of treatment will be covered. In most instance the year benefit will be less and you may be restricted to a small list of providers.  In some dental plans the fees paid to the dental office are heavily discounted and the office finds it difficult to provide custom dental services.

Choose carefully during the benefits season

It seems like the Fall is the time in which employees can switch their benefits plan. Take care to pick a plan that will meet your needs and expectations.

Single Dark tooth Denver dentist

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

What causes a single dark tooth/

Denver dentist Dr. James DeLapp received an e-mail the other day from a patient inquiring about the cost of dental veneers on two front teeth that he had injured some years ago. The question posed by this patient is interesting because they wanted to know “if” dental veneers would solve the problem. The short answerer is both yes and no… it depends on the status of the tooth. The darkening may be benign or evidence that the tooth is becoming necrotic and in need of a root canal. The treatments can vary tremendously so getting the diagnosis right is the most important element

Cause of Tooth Discoloration

Our Denver dental office wants to first determine the “cause” of the discoloration first. In this case it appears to be from trauma. The areas to look at or examinations needed to be completed include but are not limited to:

  • Color of the tooth compared the the adjacent teeth
  • Color of the gums around each tooth
  • Pulp testing of the tooth
  • Dental x-rays

Trauma etiology of a single dark tooth

A vital or healthy tooth may be darker due to trauma and the resultant bleeding into the tooth.  The teeth may discolor form external or internal resorption or cavities or leaking dental fillings.  In summary there are so many things to consider and getting the diagnosis correct will lead to the best treatment for the tooth

New dental practice video uploaded for our Denver Dental office

Our Denver dentist has uploaded the new dental practice video on the web site. It adds Dr. Sarah Parsons to our South Metro Denver area dental practice information.  Dr. Parsons is a 2010 graduate from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Since Dr. Parsons graduation she has taken over 40 hours of continuing dental education courses. Her most recent course was taken at the University of Southern California (USC) Dental School. The course she took was for “minimal dental sedation”. After taking the course she applied and was granted a “minimal dental sedation permit” from the Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners.

Dental anxiety available for our Denver are dental patients

One of the barriers to dental care is dental anxiety. Minimal sedation allow many patients to have dentistry accomplished that they have been delaying for a period of time.  Some patients have delayed treatment for many years and minimal  sedation dentistry allows them to complete treatment. This type of sedation works for many patients but many not work for everyone. Please consider calling and make an appointment to see if sedation dentistry is for you. Please call (303) 694-9740

Denver Dental Stem Cells

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

What are stems cells and how could they help your family

Your tooth may stores your family’s  stem cells  Stem cells can be found in many tissues, they are usually buried deep, they are hard to find and isolate. However with the breakthrough discovery of stem cells in teeth, a readily accessible source can be isolated. Denver Dentists, Dr James DeLapp, Dr. Sarah Parsons and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp announce that stem cells may be collected and stored by you and your family and utilized later if the need is seen.  Our Denver and Highlands Ranch dental office is located at  6660 Timberline Road #130 Highlands Ranch 80130.

Is there current medical treatment available using stem cells?

No… not at this time.  However… much research for various diseases involve treatment that “may” involve stem cell. This new field of medicine most likely will be called “Regenerative Medicine”. Stem cells inf the future may be used for tissue replacement or mitigating the tissue rejection seen in transplants.

Baby teeth are a great source of Stem Cells

Researchers  have found that primary or baby teeth is a great source of stem cells.  There appears to be a large amount of stem cells in permanent teeth as wells as wisdom teeth.  The ideas is to  save these teeth “if” they are eligible to be saved… frozen and stored so they can be recovered at a later date. When you make your childs first dental visit at our Denver dentists… ask about loosing baby teeth and stems cells.

What type of tooth is eligible to be used?

The tooth that can be harvested are one that is in very good condition.  Teeth that have large decay or abscess are NOT eligible for harvesting.  Wisdom teeth and children’s baby teeth may be the most effective donor sites for your stem cells.

Extracted teeth may a good source of stem cells

Living stem cells found within extracted teeth are routinely discarded every day.  Now, the company “ Stem Save” gives your family the opportunity to save these cells for future use in developing medical treatment. Recent and ongoing medical research gives you the opportunity to save these cells for future use in developing medical treatments for your family.

Dental stem cells now and in the future will have tremendous medical benefits and new treatment for common diseases.  By using your own stem cells you can significantly reduce the risk of rejection of the new medical treatments.

Reduce the risks of immunosuppressive drugs

Immunosuppressive drugs are given in medical treatments to reduce the risks of rejection of the tissue.  The side effect of these drugs are numerous and they make your body more susceptible to infections and the like. In addition to reducing rejection risks …. you can reduce or eliminate the use of drugs that weaken you immune system.

Teeth Stem cells are powerful

Further, the stem cells from teeth have been observed in research studies to be among the most powerful stem cells in the human body.  Stem cells from teeth replicate at a faster rate and for a longer period of time than do stem cells harvested from other tissues of the body.

The older your cells are the less effective they are

Stem cells in the human body age over time and their regenerative abilities slow down as we get older.  The earlier in life that your family’s stem cells are secured, the more valuable they will be when they are needed most.

Not on your insurance list?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Denver dentist may not be on your insurance list…can I still get benefits in your office?

The answer “most” but not “all” of the time is yes! There are a few number of plans that ONLY reimburse you if you choose from a list of discounted dental offices. The question may be that the reimbursement may be at a different or reduced rate but you need to ask yourself this question. Is our office philosophy of seeing one patient at a time important to you… then we may be the office for you.

Are all Dental offices alike?

In some ways yes and in many other ways no. The key you might want to consider is the ways dental offices are different. Our difference is it is our goal to give you the best service we can. We have a reception room… not a waiting room. Is being seen on time important to you? Do you mind waiting an hour or more to be seen? For us being on time is you being seen within one min. of your scheduled visit.
