Up-loading our video to YouTube

Our Denver area dental practice is in the process of developing a number of video describing dental procedures and answering dental questions with video that we upload to YouTube.  Unlike the video you see above… these video will be developed in house with nothing more complex that a “Flip” hand held video camera.  The first video we are planning on producing is on teeth whitening and in particular difficult teeth to whiten.  If you have been following our Blog postings you would know that the gray hue’s are difficult to whiten.  In addition an type of translucency can be challenging at best.

Denver Dental Stem Cells

What are stems cells and how could they help your family

Your tooth may stores your family’s  stem cells  Stem cells can be found in many tissues, they are usually buried deep, they are hard to find and isolate. However with the breakthrough discovery of stem cells in teeth, a readily accessible source can be isolated. Denver Dentists, Dr James DeLapp, Dr. Sarah Parsons and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp announce that stem cells may be collected and stored by you and your family and utilized later if the need is seen.  Our Denver and Highlands Ranch dental office is located at  6660 Timberline Road #130 Highlands Ranch 80130.

Is there current medical treatment available using stem cells?

No… not at this time.  However… much research for various diseases involve treatment that “may” involve stem cell. This new field of medicine most likely will be called “Regenerative Medicine”. Stem cells inf the future may be used for tissue replacement or mitigating the tissue rejection seen in transplants.

Baby teeth are a great source of Stem Cells

Researchers  have found that primary or baby teeth is a great source of stem cells.  There appears to be a large amount of stem cells in permanent teeth as wells as wisdom teeth.  The ideas is to  save these teeth “if” they are eligible to be saved… frozen and stored so they can be recovered at a later date. When you make your childs first dental visit at our Denver dentists… ask about loosing baby teeth and stems cells.

What type of tooth is eligible to be used?

The tooth that can be harvested are one that is in very good condition.  Teeth that have large decay or abscess are NOT eligible for harvesting.  Wisdom teeth and children’s baby teeth may be the most effective donor sites for your stem cells.

Extracted teeth may a good source of stem cells

Living stem cells found within extracted teeth are routinely discarded every day.  Now, the company “ Stem Save” gives your family the opportunity to save these cells for future use in developing medical treatment. Recent and ongoing medical research gives you the opportunity to save these cells for future use in developing medical treatments for your family.

Dental stem cells now and in the future will have tremendous medical benefits and new treatment for common diseases.  By using your own stem cells you can significantly reduce the risk of rejection of the new medical treatments.

Reduce the risks of immunosuppressive drugs

Immunosuppressive drugs are given in medical treatments to reduce the risks of rejection of the tissue.  The side effect of these drugs are numerous and they make your body more susceptible to infections and the like. In addition to reducing rejection risks …. you can reduce or eliminate the use of drugs that weaken you immune system.

Teeth Stem cells are powerful

Further, the stem cells from teeth have been observed in research studies to be among the most powerful stem cells in the human body.  Stem cells from teeth replicate at a faster rate and for a longer period of time than do stem cells harvested from other tissues of the body.

The older your cells are the less effective they are

Stem cells in the human body age over time and their regenerative abilities slow down as we get older.  The earlier in life that your family’s stem cells are secured, the more valuable they will be when they are needed most.
